Tammi Terrell Dixon was born and raised in Mobile, Alabama. After high school, she ventured out in search of her life’s purpose. She became a registered nurse and has been caring for those in need for over twenty years.
In January 2020, Tammi decided to try something new. She returned home and opened Her Timeout painting studio; a stress-free environment where adults could relax and release their artistic abilities by creating their own masterpieces while sipping on their favorite beverage and listening to different genres of music.
Tammi had a plan and started her own business, but God had His plan.
Tammi would have been cancer-free for ten years in May 2020, but a month after opening her studio, she was told the cancer had returned. Shortly after the news, another tragic event would occur, COVID-19 pandemic. All of this was a strong blow to her world. And after much thought and prayer, Tammi decided that her health was most important and decided to close the painting studio.
In 2015, Tammi wrote a novella, Seriously God, Am I That Girl? after her initial cancer diagnosis, detailing her breast cancer journey, and now she was wondering why this was happening again and if she was supposed to write another book.
Instead of writing another book, Tammi thought about the name God had given her for a business, Her Timeout, and decided to use it in another way. Her Timeout is now a blog about how God equips Tammi with everything she needs and guides her through life’s journey to help others.
Knowing who is in control of her life and guiding her towards her destiny, Tammi has made peace with her decisions.
“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the Lord. As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.” Isaiah 55: 8-9
